Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)

Chemical compounds containing chlorine, fluorine, and carbon atoms. Sold under the trademarked name of Freon for many years and used as a coolant in refrigerators, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Now known to contribute to the depletion of the ozone.
